Review:
Star Wars Legacy Vol 1 Broken

It's over one hundred and twenty-five years since the events of Return of the Jedi. The New Republic that was formed after Return of the Jedi was shattered by the invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong, who killed trillions and devastated entire worlds (as told in the New Jedi Order novel series). A Galactic Alliance of the remaining systems, Jedi and the Imperial Remnant finally defeated the invaders.

Now a hundred years after the Vong Invasion, the Sith have emerged--a legion of Sith led by Darth Krayt. Krayt's manipulations have fractured the Galactic Alliance and the Jedi order. The newly emerged Empire (formerly known as the Imperial Remnant) have aligned themselves with the Sith and have gone to war with the Galactic Alliance.

The first book in the series opens with a Sith assaulted on the Jedi Training Academy on Ossus, after destroying (once again) the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Kol Skywalker and Wolf Sazen, along with their padawans Shado Vao and Cade Skywalker are the only Jedi left alive as they attempt to get the younglings off planet before the Sith can finish them all off. Outnumbered by the sheer amount of Sith Warriors, Kol and Sazen make a last stand against the Sith.

Head strong and reckless (as all good Skywalkers are), Cade cannot leave his father and Master to their deaths and joins in on the fight. Sazen is struck down and dying, Kol convinces Cade to take Sazen and leave with the ship. Unable to allow Sazen to die, Cade taps into the dark side of the force to bring him back from the brink of death. Cade then leaves the ship in a fighter to give the ship a chance and is believe killed.
Meanwhile, on Corusant, Darth Krayt has taken the role as Emperor from Imperial Leader Roan Fel, whom Krayt promised the position to. After killing his double, Krayt orders his Sith to seek the real Fel out and destroy him as well as the remaining Jedi. We also learn that Krayt's body is suffering from a terrible disease.

We jump seven years in time and find Cade Skywalker very much alive. He has turned his back on his heritage and has become a bounty hunter, even turning in Jedi. His crew consists of Jedi-hater Jariah Syn and the sexy Zeltron, Deliah Blue. He takes drugs to deaden his connection to the force as the ghost of Luke Skywalker attempts to convince Cade to embrace his legacy as a Skywalker. At the same time, we are introduced to Krayt's newest Sith Assassin, Darth Talon--one of the coolest Sith of all time.
